Mission Statement
The mission of Saint Francis Middle School is to provide a college preparatory program for students with diverse academic abilities in a structured educational environment that is challenging and supportive.

Philosophy
Saint Francis Middle School's educational philosophy is based on placing students in a learning environment that is both challenging and supportive.  Our commitment to small classes and a low teacher-pupil ratio permits us to maximize learning potential in all curriculum areas.  Structure, organization and process are the hallmarks of Saint Francis' mission, which provides our students with the skills necessary to be successful in college.

Our Beliefs
The program at Saint Francis is based on the premise that students learn best in an environment that is challenging yet supportive and where attention is paid to students' learning strengths as well as their learning weaknesses.

St. Francis has employed a number of tenets in formulating its educational philosophy:

  • Provide a curriculum that offers a thorough presentation of the basic skills areas of Reading, Writing, and Mathematics. Budget adequate time for the presentation of these key areas.
  • Provide a curriculum that stresses consistency within each grade level and continuity from grade level to grade level.
  • Limit the size of classes and the disparity of ability groupings in each class so that each student can receive individual attention while learning in a group taught environment. >
  • Present material in a multi-modal format that is cognizant of the fact that different students learn in different ways. Seek out professionals who are willing and able to teach in this fashion.
  • Provide a learning atmosphere that emphasizes reducing curriculum materials to manageable segments of days, weeks, quarters, semesters.
  • Provide a parallel curriculum that emphasizes appropriate study skills, note taking skills, memorization skills. Incorporate support systems such as homework assignment planners, progress reports, learning and writing labs, and homework hours into the general curriculum fabric.
