2013 Georgia High School Ceramic Arts Awards & Symposium

Senior Cole McAdam, and Juniors Kate Bielan, P.J. Coyne, and Guy van Hessewijk had their work  selected to be exhibited in the 2013 Georgia High School Ceramic Arts Awards & Symposium in Newnan  Georgia.  P.J. Coyne had two pieces accepted and the other students had one piece selected.  P.J.  Coyne and Guy van Hessewijk both submitted portolios of at least five pieces this year.

DSC_0544edRTwenty-five schools sent entries to this prestigious show and 166 pieces were selected for exhibition by  juror Ken Hovath, Director of the Ceramic Program at Spruill Art Center. This is the largest solely ceramic  show for students in the state, and each year there are a minimum of 1200 entries.The pieces are on  display at The Centre for Performing Arts in Newnan. Our St. Francis art teacher, Barb Swanner will be teaching a workshop for the students during this show.  At the end of the workshops the winners in various categories will be announced and the portfolios that were accepted will be presented during the awards ceremony in a PowerPoint.
