High School Students Compete in Art Competitions
Saint Francis High School students won awards in the Georgia 2015 Scholastic Art & Writing Competition.
- Hayley Barden won a gold key for her “Under the Park” photo
- Alex Boyette won an honorable mention for his sculpture “Into the Past of the Tree”
- Sarah Cottone won an honorable mention for her photograph “Mother Earth”
- Guy van Hessewijk won an honorable mention for his ceramic piece “Blurred Lines”
In addition Hayley Barden’s piece will be on display at SCAD Atlanta from February 27-March 20th, and honored at a special awards ceremony on March 21st for gold and silver key recipients, their parents and teachers from across the state. Her photo will go on to compete at the national level.
Congratulations also to Haley Barden (displaying two images), Cat Wynns, Sarah Cottone, Katy Mathis, and Lauren Meredith for having their photographs selected to be in the the WADE Young Women’s Art and Design Competition Exhibit at Brenau University. Elana Spiegel had her sculpture selected.
WADE is designed to provide young high school women with opportunities to exhibit artwork, develop advanced studio skills, cultivate aesthetic appreciation, and earn scholarships for college study. The competition was open to high school women in Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.
