Middle School Winter Sports Update

As the winter season comes to a close, let’s take a moment to celebrate the successes of our winter sports teams.

WRESTLING –6611KnightR
Wrestling has continued their strong tradition under head coach Tyler Daniell.  They recently took second in the NAML Championships. Eighth graders Nick Haley and James Hannafey won their weight classes. The “Knights in Tights” finished their season with a strong performance at the Chattahoochee Duels at Woodward.

The Aqua Knights’ hosted the NAML Championships on January 23rd  at the Cobb Aquatic Center and once again, the Knights proved their dominance in the pool.  The boys took 3rd place and the girls won 1st place, giving them a fifth straight team championship!

On the hardwood, the Knights’ basketball teams were a combined 45-14 this season.

The girls’ A team went into the MAAC tournament as the #1 overall seed with an undefeated record. They breezed through the quarterfinals and semifinals. Unfortunately, they ran into a tough Ridgeview team in the finals. The girls played hard but came up short in the end, finishing second in the MAAC.

The girls’ B team continued to improve over the course of the season.  They also entered the MAAC tournament as the #1 seed. They won the semifinal game against Ridgeview pitting them against Davis Academy for the Championship. In a hard fought, physical game, the lady Knights came up just short. They too finished second in the MAAC.

The 7th grade boys’ team continued their streak of postseason play. They entered the NAML tournament as the #3 seed in the East. In an incredible game against North Cobb Christian, the Knights lost on a last second shot.

The 8th grade boys’ basketball team tasted defeat only once in the regular season and headed into postseason play as the #1 overall seed. They made it to the Championship game for the third consecutive year. Unfortunately, they ran into a very big Whitefield team. Although they came up short, the Knights had another impressive season.

Our SF logobasketball teams would not be as successful without the spirited support from our cheerleaders.

Regardless of the final results, with nearly half of the Middle School students participating in a winter sport, the season has been a resounding success!
