2017 Middle School Science Fair

Our 6th-grade science classes were divided into groups to complete different experiments using the scientific method while collaborating with their team members.  Through their joints efforts, student researched, experimented, and provided data to support their hypothesis.  All information was displayed for others to preview.

Topics included:

  • Which material is the best insulator for heat?
  • How does pore space affect the movement of water through sand, soil, and gravel?
  • What affects the rate of Evaporation?

    Luke Johnson and Ella Shiver

These topics allowed the students to gather information that supports the reason for planting seeds in soil versus sand, and how the use of the styrofoam cup was better for hot chocolate than a plastic cup.  Students will continue throughout the year studying new topics to hone their skills.
