Saint Francis High School Athletics: A Tradition of Excellence

At Saint Francis High School, athletics are more than just games—they are a vital part of our school spirit, shaping leaders, building character, and fostering lifelong friendships. With 20 teams across 17 sports, our student-athletes push their limits, strive for excellence, and represent our school with pride. Whether competing at the highest level or playing for the love of the game, every Knight has a place to grow, succeed, and be part of something bigger than themselves.

A Thriving Athletic Program

At Saint Francis High School, our athletic program is more than just a series of competitive teams—it’s a cornerstone of our school spirit and community. With 20 teams across 17 sports, we provide students with an environment that enhances their overall high school experience. Schedules are located under each team's sport.

Fall Sports Teams

Our football program is built on discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. Athletes engage in a rigorous training program, developing their strength, agility, and strategic awareness while competing in a highly competitive conference. Notably, the team has reached the State Playoffs multiple times, with significant milestones such as making the Final Four in 2022 and achieving Region Champion Status in 2022.

The cheerleading squad is a cornerstone of school spirit and athletic support. Athletes refine their tumbling, stunting, and performance skills, competing at a high level while rallying the school community.

The softball program combines skill development, competitive strategy, and leadership training. Athletes focus on hitting mechanics, fielding precision, and in-game decision-making to compete against top-tier opponents. The team has a history of success, including being Region Champions in 2004 and making State Playoff appearances in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2023, and a Sweet 16 appearance in 2024.

Our volleyball team trains in fundamentals, advanced techniques, and high-pressure gameplay. Athletes refine their passing, serving, blocking, and strategic execution, competing at an elite level. The team has consistently reached the State Playoffs from 2016 through 2021, with a notable Final Four appearance in 2020.

Cross country challenges runners to develop stamina, race strategy, and mental resilience. Our team competes on a variety of courses, emphasizing endurance training, pacing techniques, and individual performance growth. The men's team has qualified for the State Tournament in years including 2002, 2016, 2020, 2021, and 2022.

With a focus on aerobic endurance, race strategy, and mental toughness, our women’s cross-country team competes at a high level, preparing runners for the demands of championship competition. The team has made State Tournament appearances in 2002, 2020, 2021, and 2022.

Winter Sports Teams

Our basketball program blends fundamental skills, strategic gameplay, and competitive excellence. Athletes train rigorously in shooting, defensive formations, and court awareness, preparing for intense conference matchups and postseason opportunities. The men's team has an impressive record, including GHSA State Championships in 2014, 2015, 2019, and 2020, and multiple Region Championships and Final Four appearances.

A dynamic and fast-paced program, our women’s basketball team focuses on fundamental skill-building, game strategy, and leadership development. Players gain valuable experience through high-stakes competition and elite training opportunities. The women's team has secured GHSA State Championships in 2013, 2015, 2016, 2023, and 2024, along with numerous Region Championships and Final Four appearances.

Our swim program is designed for athletes looking to master technique, endurance, and race strategy. With specialized training in stroke efficiency, speed, and competitive starts and turns, swimmers refine their skills while representing Saint Francis at the highest levels. Over the years, we have had 3 individual State Champions.

Wrestling at Saint Francis is an intense, physically and mentally demanding sport. Athletes develop strength, agility, and technical skills in a competitive environment, with a focus on takedowns, counters, and match endurance. The wrestling team has a strong history, with 3 individual State Champions and notable team placements in State Tournaments and Duals.

Our baseball program is built on fundamental skills, team strategy, and mental resilience. Players develop expertise in hitting, fielding, and game execution, competing in a demanding schedule that prepares them for collegiate-level play. The team has made multiple State Playoff appearances, including most recently Sweet 16 appearances.

Our expansive 47-acre Milton campus is home to top-tier athletic facilities, ensuring that every student-athlete has the resources they need to succeed. Our facilities include:

  • Two gymnasiums
  • A baseball field with an indoor training complex

  • A football/soccer stadium and field house
  • A track and weight/training facility
  • Five tennis courts
  • A practice football/soccer field
  • A scenic wooded 5K cross-country course
